Uruguay Plays Goalkeeper — Protecting the Net with 99%+ Renewables ⚽🌍

Key Achievements (2008–2015)
↳ Shifted Uruguay’s grid from fossil-fuel dependence to nearly 100% **renewable power** (hydro, wind, solar, biomass).
↳ Cut energy costs in half, created 50,000 **new jobs** (~3% of Uruguay’s workforce), and turned Uruguay into a **net exporter** of clean power to Argentina and Brazil.

➟ Fast forward to 2024, the mix reached 99%+ renewables.

What an inspiring achievement — and an aspiration to the rest of the world leaders as they come together in NYC for Climate Week.
