Because large, long-term investors like NBIM — with tremendous investment capital, relationship capital, and AI capability — are taking a clear leadership position.

*"The global economy cannot outrun climate change, so neither can our investments"*. – Nicolai Tangen, CEO

per 2030 Climate Action Plan and Norges Bank Climate Conference (link below).

Insurance & risk professionals see the micro pictures all day. So, let’s zoom out. Why? Because climate risk doesn’t stop at one country, one economy, or one sector — it cascades.

4️⃣ **Sessions from the Norges Bank Climate Conference** (link below):
• Climate change and macroeconomic impacts
• Energy transition and macroeconomic impacts
• Keynote addresses and conversations
• From climate risk to investment opportunities

3️⃣ **Insights that stood out to me:**
• **Adaptation capital** – This idea is gaining traction.
• **Grid. Grid. Grid.** – System-level resilience is 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 the defining issue for transition.
• **Diversification** – Investors seek diversification, which means concentration risk in a single technology may not be attractive, no matter how strong the asset is.

2️⃣ **New dots got connected**
• GPD per capita annual growth rate and annual average temperature (Professor Hsiang session)
• The Gas Trap: While gas can replace coal in the short term, expectations of abundant gas reduce investment in renewables—so over time, unfortunately, gas replaces renewables rather than replaces coal (Professor Harstad session)

1️⃣ **Direction that is unmistakable** (though of course subject to market opportunities)  – The increase in investment in **renewable energy** infrastructure including renewable electricity generation and storage, electricity grids, and renewable energy infrastructure funds, via public-to-private transactions, IPOs, and strategic equity.
