Intelligent Infrastructure
Is utility SaaS just back-office software, or is it intelligent infrastructure? Octopus Energy built Kraken for itself, then licensed it to other utilities.
Is utility SaaS just back-office software, or is it intelligent infrastructure?
Octopus Energy built Kraken for itself, then licensed it to other utilities. Think Amazon building AWS, then opening it to the world.
At $8.65B valuation serving tens of millions of customers, Kraken proves the AI -powered operating system works. This company is barely 10 years young.
That raises an important question:
❓Why hasn’t something like this emerged at scale and valuation in the U.S., given America’s innovation advantage and the insatiable demand for energy?
When we talk about *advanced* infrastructure, we focus on steel, concrete, and megawatts. But infrastructure also requires an intelligence layer—software that coordinates assets, capital, and operational risk in real time.
So, energy tech isn’t just a software story. It’s a strategic infrastructure story.
