Uruguay Plays Goalkeeper — Protecting the Net with 99%+ Renewables ⚽🌍

Key Achievements (2008–2015) ↳ Shifted Uruguay’s grid from fossil-fuel dependence to nearly 100% renewable power (hydro, wind, solar, biomass). ↳ Cut energy costs in half, created 50,000 new jobs (~3% of Uruguay’s workforce), and turned Uruguay into a net exporter of clean power to Argentina and Brazil.

➟ Fast forward to 2024, the mix reached 99%+ renewables.
